America Revealed: From Servitude to Slavery

August 19, 2010
You know about the great heroes of the Civil Rights movement like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks. You also know that slavery was one of the worst scars on our Republic- and to this day, it still tears us apart. But just how did slavery in America start? You might..no, you WILL be surprised. Tonight, open your eyes and your mind and you will see and hear history like never before. Don’t just take Glenn’s word for it- do your own research and continue to question with boldness. Tomorrow’s show will pick up where today’s left off.

As referenced in this show by Glenn Beck, Fredrick Douglass’ relationship with President Lincoln was an intricate part to helping abolish slavery in America. Nothing would portray this story better than Fredrick Douglass’ own words. Therefore, we have added the autobiography of Fredrick Douglass entitled “My Bondage and My Freedom” published in 1855 to our Liberty Library.

August 20, 2010
We’ve covered a lot of history over the last few days- everything from the Indians and pyramids in Ohio to indentured servitude and the first slave owner in America being a black man. Tonight’s show begins where yesterday’s show left off- right around the turn of the 20th century. If you asked several people which political party were the racists that wanted to segregate the population- most of them would probably say it was the Republicans. Well, let’s just see what history has to say about that. Warning: This program contains Glenn having to talk about Woodrow Wilson- alot.

As referred to in this video, “Our Country” by Josiah Strong, published in 1885:

Also get to know Margaret Sanger.
